Remember Big Mouth Billy? When he debuted in 1999, the singing mounted bass was an instant hit. And he’s proven to be so iconic, he’s been featured in everything from Wall-E and The Sopranos to CSI and, most recently, Riverdale. He even has fans among royalty: Queen Elizabeth II was so charmed, she supposedly bought six, according to the Guardian, and one of them is displayed above the grand piano at Balmoral Castle. Not too shabby.
Now, Billy’s back! And he’s upped his game. Inspired by dozens of tech heads who hacked the fish on their own, Gemmy, the original maker, decided to make it official and has hooked up the fish to Alexa. This time, when he tells you to take him to the river, he can also give you the weather and traffic report before you head out!
When you say, “Alexa,” Billy will raise his head to you attentively, like a puppy waiting for your next words. His mouth will move as he lip-synchs her responses. He will also dance and swish his tail to the Amazon music that plays through Alexa (though his mouth will not open and shut along with the words). He can also respond to alerts, like alarms, by flapping his tail or moving his head.

He effectively becomes the friendly face for bodiless Alexa, telling you everything you want to know, whether it’s to take an umbrella or what the traffic's like before you head out on the morning commute. But no matter what the news or state of the world, rest assured that Big Mouth Billy can still tell you to not worry, and to be happy!
