Out of curiosity I googled the definition of Ombyte and apparently it means variety—which is exactly what Ikea is giving us in this collection. The collection was set to be released August 1, but they decided to release the collection two weeks early in the U.S. (what a blessing?).
The entire collection is funky, and fun—it's full of cool patterns, colors and designs that'll making moving a little more exciting. Ikea had a very distinct vision for this collection and I think most people would say they hit the target, “With OMBYTE, we wanted to make moving practical, but also fun by adding colors, patterns and expressions to plain-looking moving essentials – this also means you won’t have to move to have them in your home,” said creative leader, James Futcher.
Ombyte provides the type of moving essentials that can do much more than just move things from point A to point B. Majority of the items in this collection can be used as everyday items. I know that I plan on using their Ombyte backpack to go grocery shopping (living in a major city and having to catch the train to go grocery shopping is not easy).
This collection is here just in time for college move-in and its affordable. A lot of items in the collection are $20 or less. What more could we ask for—this collection is fab and cheap.
“I tried to create a flow throughout the collection with colors that balanced each other. There was also a lot of thinking behind the patterns: we wanted them to match and create a nice rhythm,” said designer, Ida Petteon Preutz.
Petteon designed majority of the pieces in this collection, and there is an evident sense of intention behind all of the patterns—and no, I'm not just saying all of this because I love Ikea. See for yourself, here are some items from the collection you can shop now:
