I've built a lot of IKEA furniture in my time. More than I'd like to have built, and although I've never run a marathon (bless those who have), I sort of approach the task like running one. From purchasing it at the store to figuring out how to
read interpret the instructions, and then finally seeing it come together at the end—it's a journey. A long and hard one at that. But there is one IKEA item that is foolproof. Truly, even if you hate building furniture you can get on board with this. I give you, the classic Billy Bookcase.
The $50 shelf is so popular, that IKEA says one is sold somewhere in the world every five seconds. Perhaps, IKEA, if all of your furniture was this easy to build you'd sell even more items every five seconds. With only 12 steps (13 if you're mounting it to your wall), it's much less intimidating and much more intuitive than other IKEA items. It took me about 1 hour to build, and when I was done, I had something that looked a lot more expensive than $50.
If I built this and didn't hate everything, than you surely can to!
