- Marshalls announced Wednesday that it will finally be opening an online store.
- The Marshalls online shopping experience will launch sometime this year.
- The online store will offer slightly different products than its brick-and-mortar counterparts.
Brace yourselves (and your wallets!), discount shoppers, because earlier this week, Marshalls announced its plans to finally launch its very own online store. As of right now, the details about your favorite off-price retailer's digital debut are limited — but here's a look at everything we know about the new Marshalls online store so far.
When will the Marshalls online store launch?
Sometime this year, if all goes according to plan. Although we don't have a specific date just yet, The TJX Companies CEO Ernie Herrman told investors during a conference call on Wednesday that the company is shooting for a launch date in "the back half of this year." What products will be available on Marshalls online?
While Marshalls' online offerings will certainly be similar to what's available in stores, you shouldn't expect to find the same exact products in both places: "We look at [the online store] as complementary," Herrman said. Knowing the off-price retailer, however, we suspect you'll be able to shop great deals on clothing, home goods, and more online.
Does this mean Marshalls stores near me are closing?
Nope. In fact, Herrman and his team are hoping the exact opposite: that the launch of Marshalls online shopping will drive more foot traffic to the brick-and-mortar stores. When another TJX Companies retailer, TJ Maxx, launched its own online shopping experience in 2013, it actually saw a slight increase in in-store foot traffic and "cross-shopping" across the digital and physical stores.
