Pull out the sunscreen and beach towels, because even the Royal family knows summer is all about beach getaways. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reportedly to a small airport in southwest France this week and even though we don't technically know where they're headed, everyone assumes it's the nearby coastal resort town of Biarritz. Why? Well, all you have to do is take one look at these photos to understand.
The town is located in the Bay of Biscay on the Atlantic coast and just 22 miles from the border of Spain. It's most notable attraction (well, besides the beach) is the Hôtel du Palais, which was built for Empress Eugénie back in 1855. Today, it's a luxury hotel that has hosted famous guests such as Coco Chanel, Ava Gardener and Frank Sinatra. Are Will, Kate, George and Charlotte next?
After the very snowy holiday Will and Kate took their family on this past winter in the French Alps, we bet George would be thrilled to play in the ocean and build sandcastles on the sand amongst these retro umbrellas.
Surprisingly, Biarritz is also known for it's strong surfing culture and hosts annual competitions. Even though the kids might be a little young to stand up on a board, we'd love to see Will and Kate take a stab at it.
Another famous part of the town's skyline is the Saint Eugene Church, which sits near the ocean and was built between 1898 and 1903. Do you think the fam is going to put on their Sunday Best this weekend?
At night, the fishing harbor lights up and offers outdoor dining and sightseeing. Once the kids go to bed, we hope the parents take in city's famous gambling scene. Or at least take a romantic walk along the harbor. It's really a win-win.
