In case you had any doubt that you can find just about everything on Craigslist, a Colorado man has put an entire town up for sale on the advertising site.
That's right — for James Johnson's asking price of $350,000, you can purchase the entire town of Cabin Creek, Colorado, which is located less than 60 miles east of Denver off of Highway 36. Included are five acres of land with a 3,300-square-foot shop, roadside café, RV parking spaces, a motel and a two-bedroom, one-bathroom house. was posted to Craigslist about a month ago.
It's important for potential buyers to note that Cabin Creek has been a ghost town since the 1970s, . In its prime, locals say the town had a cafe that served up an amazing chicken-fried steak and a movie theater that was popular with residents of neighboring towns. But in the '70s, a murder in Cabin Creek drove people out. "There was nobody here, so these buildings sat totally vacant," Johnson told the news station.
Johnson had once hoped to revitalize the town and even turn it into a Route 66 tourist attraction, but now that his wife is retiring, the couple plans to move to an even more remote destination. The history buff posted the listing to Craigslist in hopes that someone with a vision similar to his will take the town off his hands. And so far, for both Johnson and the town of Cabin Creek, the future looks bright.
"We've had so many people look," he told FOX31 Denver. "It's been amazing."
