IKEA's Kitchen of 2025 Teaches You How to Cook

It's probably more affordable than hiring a personal chef.

Having already reimagined what the living room of the future should include, IKEA is setting its sights on the kitchen. The blue and yellow company's vision of 2025 includes a "digital hub" full of Internet-connected devices.

Concept Kitchen 2025, which IKEA unveiled at Milan Design Week, intertwines tech and common kitchen items to make cooking easier. The centerpiece of the ambitious plan is the Table for Living, which puts a high-tech spin on the lazy kitchen island. The smart table recognizes what food is placed on it using a camera-equipped projector. Once it does that, it can display recipes, weigh items, and instructs you how to properly cut them. It also comes with a built-in induction cooktop that eliminates the need for a stove top.

Right now, this is just an idea that IKEA cooked up, so there's no telling when or even if it will be sold. But keep your eyes out for a smart table the next time you're strolling through the showroom.
