Napa Valley is high on our list of best places to spend New Year's Eve. There's the ever-flowing wine, the wine, and, uh, all the rest of the wine. You could kick off 2019 by planning your own day of winery tours and night of wine-filled debauchery...but seeing as the Napa Valley Wine Train's really cornered the market on safely chauffeuring people around while they imbibe, it's much easier to just ring in the new year with them. Yes? Yes.
There are three components to the night, and you can choose to partake in any or all of them:
The Train Ride
It's what Napa Valley Wine Train does best. For $202, you'll be treated to a three-hour ride through wine country. But first, there's a welcome reception at the train station where you'll get local cheeses and charcuterie and a glass of wine or champagne. On board, a four-course gourmet dinner and festive party favors await you. You can choose from two seating options: the more intimate Vista Dome Car, with panoramic views, or the Gourmet Express, which has luxury dining and lounge seating.
The After Party
This takes place at ALBA, Napa's River Terrace Inn's restaurant. Tack on an extra $75 for entry to the party, which starts at 10:30 p.m. There'll be a DJ, dancing, a champagne toast, small bites (to soak up those hours' worth of wine), and a balloon drop.
Because you're not going home at this point, right? The River Terrace Inn still has availability, so you can book a room for the evening.
You can purchase tickets to the events—all three or just one!—at winetrain.com. But hurry, the Napa Valley Wine Train's experiences tend to sell out quickly.
