In a shocking turn of events, my dream hotel room might actually be a shipping container. No, really. in Round Top, Texas, is like a tiny home resort — specifically made up of chic shipping containers. I can't believe I just used chic and shipping container in the same sentence, but, well, see for yourself:
The hotel has six units available to rent, starting at $175 per night. Each container — which come from a distillery in Kentucky — has a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. Every part of the unit is repurposed, reports. The windows of each unit come from a school in Philadelphia, the cabinet bases from a laboratory in Brooklyn, and the countertops are made from the floors of an old Texas bowling alley.
With books and record players, the inside of the units give off major vintage vibes.
So, besides hanging out in a trendy shipping container all day, what else is there to do at Flophouze? Like any good hotel, the nightly rate comes with other amenities including access to hammocks, fire pits, and complimentary coffee and tea.
If you stay and love it so much, you can ! Build Your Own Flophouze, obvi. I don't know that I can do tiny living forever, but, a tiny vacation? Into it.
