Vivien Leigh's Life Story Is Heading to the Big Screen

Vivien Leigh's real-life drama is getting the biopic treatment. According to Variety, Michael Zam and Jaffe Cohen, the writers behind , the Gone with the Wind star's story to the big screen.

The film will reportedly be based on Hugo Vickers' chronicle of the star's life, , and will center around .

"I couldn't help myself with Vivien. No man could," of their relationship, which began as an extramarital affair. "I hated myself for cheating on Jill, but then I had cheated before, but this was something different. This wasn't just out of lust. This was love that I really didn't ask for but was drawn into."

While Leigh and Olivier eventually took the relationship public and were married for 20 years, their bond could not withstand cheating on both sides, and Leigh's problems with mental illness.

Over the course of her too-short career, Leigh won two Academy Awards, for her roles in Gone with the Wind and A Streetcar Named Desire. She also won a Tony for her role in Tovarich.

She passed away at the age of 53 from tuberculosis.

Casting information and a production timeline has yet to be released for the film.
