Finding your forever home seems like a really scary feat. Often times when homeowners feel unhappy with where they live, they immediately jump to thoughts of moving—without first considering what they could do to make their current home better. For Drew and Jonathan Scott, though, those kind of upgrades are the projects with the most heart.
In their new series, "Property Brothers: Forever Home," which premiered May 29, the famous brothers focus on families who have homes they don't want to get rid of and transform their spaces into places they want to stay in forever. Yes, each episode is emotional, but also incredibly informative.
According to Fox News, there's one big mistake people are making when it comes to renovating their homes. What is it? Well, think "children." No, they're not the mistake, of course, but they are the reason you are making the mistake. Because babies make such a mess and "destroy everything," it's important to wait to take on projects until they are at least a little bit older.
Tip: Wait until your children are older to complete big reno projects!
After all, there's no sense wasting money on redoing your floors or painting your walls—or completing even bigger projects—if you have little ones who will scratch them and draw all over them...right? It's only logical to wait. As Drew s, waiting makes sense because, "Now, you fix the place up, and they're not going to trash it like they would when they're 1-year-old."
Though it seems pretty obvious, patience is key and unfortunately not a virtue every homeowner has. While it temporarily might look pretty, it could really end up costing you in the long run.
