Blogger Lindsay of My Creative Days is constantly switching out the furniture in her home for "something better," so when it came time for a new coffee table, she scoured yard sales.
The coffee table wasn't the prettiest, but for just three bucks. it was a deal she couldn't refuse. Initially, she wanted to whitewash the legs and stain the top darker. However, she quickly found out that the table did not sand easily, so she resorted to Plan B: heavy distressing.
Lindsay gave the table two coats of white paint. After the paint dried, she used an electric sander to create the distressed look on the top, legs, and around the edges. Next, she covered the table in antiquing wax to give the visible wood a darker hue and a vintage feel.
The finished product is a dramatic result. It just goes to show that even the simplest pieces of furniture can be jazzed up with a little bit of creativity.
