It's really f*cking funny to drink wine while gluing rocks to a Pringles can. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say! But, the surprising pairing comes from the latest episode of D.I.Wine, where Alyssa and I turn the chip can into a v. classy, v. elegant rock vase.
Alyssa prefers to compare the difficulty of a craft to salsa flavors, as in mild, medium, and spicy—which makes this project is a clear medium. It's not that easy, it'll throw you off a little, but it's not impossible. To make it, you empty a Pringles can, glue rocks to it (though you should definitely watch what happened when we attempted to use adhesive spray), then cover it in grout and Modge Podge. You can see the full instructions that we followed here.
Making these was an emotional journey, but by the end we felt extremely accomplished, and, well, sort of buzzed. Please enjoy us pre- and post-rock vase.
So if you are going to make this for your next D.I.Wine Night, which we totally recommend, and even suggest trying it outside, you should certainly play by our drinking rules. It turns out, it's really hard to not say "rocks" while making a rock vase and, for me, even harder to not spill them all over the place.
So grab your pinot grigio and call your best friend—you're making rock vases.
Rock Vase Drinking Game Rules:
- Drink every time you eat Pringles.
- Drink every time you say "rocks," "Pringles," or "spray."
- If someone drops a rock on the ground, you both drink.
- Whoever finishes a step last drinks.
