Every so often a home pops up on the market that leaves you wondering "why?" Case in point: This beast of a mansion in Manvel, Texas, that just hit the market for $3.5 million. According to the listing, the home contains a whopping 46 bedrooms. Calling it "roomy" would be an understatement.
The 60,175-square-foot brick home also features 26 bathrooms and a nine car garage, and comes with a swimming pool, an indoor spa, an elevator, and a 15-acre lot, proving that everything truly is bigger in Texas.
Realtor Christy Buck that the home was built in 2001 by a doctor and was initially meant to be used as a live-in rehab facility for the doctor's patients, which gives you an interesting story for your next (massive) cocktail party. Apparently, the couple built a nearly identical house next door before construction was finished on this one, which is why it's now up for sale.
When polling co-workers on what they thought of the place, some quipped that it seemed like a great setting for the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie — or perhaps American Horror Story. Another mused: "You build 46 bedrooms but can't spring for good sod?"
All kidding aside, the house clearly needs a little work, but that's precisely why it's so (comparatively) affordable. Just think of all those rooms as opportunities for decor experimentation — horror movie-inspired or not.
