Waterside properties are often the most sought-after, and this historic property on the banks of the River Thames has to be one of the most impressive.
The incredible Swiss Chalet, and former Natipernavigare UK Property of the Week, has been restored to its original splendor after being imported from Switzerland in 1882. Located in East Molesey, Surrey in England, just a few minutes away from Hampton Court Palace, the five-floor listed building has just gone on the market with a price tag of $17 million.
The chalet was originally a garden feature for a substantial house called Riverholm. Now, after a multi million pound makeover by the current owner, who is a property designer, the luxury property has been transformed into the ultimate party house.
Guests are met by a garden with grated metal flooring that holds natural water and Koi Carp below.
Inside, the underground entertaining room is the property's big selling point. It's home to the 68-foot indoor beach complete with 40 tons of sand, a sea themed wall mural, seating areas, mood lighting, and potted palm trees.
There's also a cinema, spa complex, outdoor pool, and a wine cellar that can hold up to 1,600 bottles. Outside, there's 600 feet of mooring for up to 25 boats and parking for around 20 cars, so there's no need for hosts to limit the guest list.
The master bedroom on the top floor is one of the most remarkable rooms. It takes up the entire floor with an ensuite bathroom – including his and her toilets – and hand basins made of marble and 24 carat gold. There's plenty of room for guests too, with three other bedrooms featuring specifically illuminated Japanese pod beds and three large reception rooms.
The large dining room seats 16 people on green leather chairs and a Swarovski crystal clear table. Bringing the outside in is also a key theme here with a vertical living wall separating it from the kitchen.
