Huge apartment-style barn homes have been popping up all over Central Texas the past few years.
Barn Pros, Inc., a company based out of Washington, ships everything a prospective owner would need to build a barn, and people in areas around San Antonio have been taking advantage. The barns, which start at about $60,000 and go up from there, come in a slew of different models and can be customized in every which way — windows, attics and extended garages.
After someone purchases a barn on the list, the company ships all the supplies needed to build the barn. They don't come and build it for the customer — they either have to know someone, or the company can sets them up with a contractor in the area, according to the site.
Jessica Sherman, marketing coordinator for the company, said Texas is one of the company's most popular states — next to California — for barn-building.
"Texas is really popular," she said, adding that barns have been built in Boerne, Bandera, Spring Branch, New Braunfels, Wimberley and Dripping Springs.
