Here's one way to update a plain wooden facade: Cover it in brightly colored bottle caps. One woman in Eastern Russia did just that, transforming her simple house into a series of colorful mosaics made from 30,000 caps.
After retiring in sparsely populated and extremely rural Siberian taiga, Olga Kostina began collecting bottle caps and developing intricate, macrame-inspired patterns to pass the time. Using only a hammer and nail, Kostina attached each cap herself, filling all the walls with her own designs, including a large moose, cat, and owl. She plans to continue her hobby until all the structures on her land are covered.
