Katie Lowes, who stars as Quinn Perkins on ABC's "Scandal," and her husband are taking their time decorating their 1922 Craftsman in the Hollywood Hills, though she tells Lonny she "immediately wanted the house to look like a set."
The home has an open-plan living and dining room, which is important to Lowes and her husband, actor Adam Shapiro, who both love to entertain. "Because I used to cater a lot of parties, I noticed that houses that have a big open floor plan are the ones you can fit a lot of people into," Lowes explains. "Since we're party throwers, a grand room is really important." Fittingly, the couple's first investment piece was their dining table, which was custom-made by local artisan Manny Mukora of the House of Industry and seats 14. Nothing is too precious in their home, which she says theirs is a "no-coaster" house.
Most of all, the couple is just excited to start making a home for themselves. "It's really weird for two actors to buy a house, because it feels like you're going to get kicked out at any moment," she says. "We've been struggling artists for so long—and look, that could still happen at any time, so every day I'm grateful—but it was a huge milestone in our lives."Lonny Lonny
