Chip and Joanna Gaines are slowly but surely taking over the world—one wall of shiplap at a time. With home lines, collaborations, books, and even celeb partnerships (cough, cough, Jennifer Lopez), the design duo is constantly on our radar. As the royal couple of home renovations, their next venture is even bigger and better than just another TV show: they're creating an entire television network.
While announcing their plans and discussing the new channel at Discovery Upfronts in New York City on Wednesday, Chip and Jo's speech went a little...long. According to PEOPLE, Chip was cracking jokes and animatedly telling stories to the crowd about baby Crew and the rest of their children, completely oblivious to the teleprompter in front of him blaring, "Chip & Jo: please wrap up."
Of course, once the couple spotted the teleprompter's plea, they immediately decided to snap a selfie of the hilarious moment—I mean, who wouldn't?
"**PLEASE SEE THE TELEPROMPTER!" Chip posted on his Instagram. "Y’all.. we just launched a network!! #SoWeWentALittleLong..". #SoWeWentALittleLong is right!
“Our hope with this network is that it really feels like home,” Joanna said, according to People. “I think when people come, they’ll find what they were looking for. Whether its design, gardening, cooking — that it resonates with people. We hope that people come, sit and they stay a while.”
Discovery Inc. and Magnolia, the Gaines's home brand, have revealed that their debut network will replace the Discovery DIY Network in the summer of 2020.
