Fresh off of landing the cover of Time magazine, everyone's favorite freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled off an equally impressive feat: assembling two pieces of IKEA furniture—all while recording her progress on Instagram, of course.
It was just a mere three weeks ago that AOC took to the sphere to bemoan the lack of furniture in her new D.C. apartment, and ask for advice on what to fill it with. Of course, the internet delivered, with a slew of suggestions ranging from the absurd to the practical. Our friend Bobby Berk even offered up his services (something it seems AOC just may have taken up...more on that below).
Well, last night, the congresswoman took to Instagram live to an update on her progress. Spoiler alert: It's not much. "I've been living a completely depraved lifestyle," Ocasio-Cortez tells her fans. "I've been sleeping on a mattress [that's still wrapped] in the plastic the mattress comes in."
She explains—as we well know—that she's been a little busy and doesn't usually get out of work until many stores are closed. However, she did manage to make some progress, assembling—in proof that she is, indeed, superhuman—not one, but two pieces of IKEA furniture (all while drinking wine, no less—and Republicans wonder what makes her so relatable?!). In case you're curious—and admit it, you are—they were the GLADOM tray table and the LISABO desk.
Of course, fans of AOC or Queer Eye likely already know that the congresswoman has spent the day with the Fab Five today—including resident designer Bobby Berk— to support her efforts to pass the Equality Act. When we see Bobby at High Point market this weekend, we'll be sure to ask his take on AOC's IKEA selections. For now, we'll just be basking in the knowledge that our favorite politico s our furniture taste.
