Pantone Receives Backlash for Their Color of the Year

Turns out leaf green is a polarizing color.

Just yesterday, Pantone announced Greenery as 2017's Color Of The Year and the Internet promptly lost their minds. While many celebrated fresh, spring-like color, there was a mixed reaction over the leafy yellow-green shade on .

Anyone whose favorite color is green was happy.

Pantone released its color of the year for 2017. AND ITS GREEN AKA MY FAVORITE COLOR. This is going to be my year. #greenery

While others hoped that it was a symbolic move for a fresh start to 2017.

This Pantone #coloroftheyear better symbolize new growth & rebirth cause I would appreciate seeing greenery grow from 2016's rotting carcass

And some were happy that it was the same color as some of their favorite things …. like guacamole.

I'm excited #Greenery is the #ColorOfTheYear. Some of my favorite things are green ..Guacamole comes to mind first 😀

But a lot of the Internet wasn't into it.

Not feeling the Pantone #coloroftheyear 🤐🤐🤐

Some still carried a banner for past colors of the year. #Marsala4Ever

I feel disproportionately disappointed in @pantone's #coloroftheyear. Weird thing to feel bummed about, but there you go. #Marsala4Ever.

While others pointed out its similarity to Kermit the Frog.

@pantone's 2017 #coloroftheyear is Greenery...aka Kermit the Frog Green

... and '90s toys like Gak.

Is anybody else getting a "Hi-C Ecto Cooler"/Nickelodeon Gak vibe from @pantone's #coloroftheyear ?

But most just wished that this color would've stayed in the '60s and '70s where it belonged.

@designboom announces the #pantone #coloroftheyear. Pea green. Really? Are the 60s back already? Does anyone like it?

What do you think? Yay or nay to Greenery?
